Kaikoura is a unique region and a significant tourist destination. The Kaikoura community is committed to being a sustainable community; in fact we were the first community in New Zealand and second in the world to achieve Environmental Benchmark status in 2002 and certification status in 2004 through the Green Globe Environmental Certification Scheme (now called EarthCheck), the world's only truly global tourism certification standard. Our community has now achieved EarthCheck's Platinum Award for continuous certification and commitment to community sustainable tourism.
At Kaikoura TOP 10 Holiday Park we are very aware of our community's aim to sustain the social, economic and environmental well being of the district now and for future generations and, as part of this community, we want to actively contribute and play our part at protecting our environment. We proudly operate our Holiday Park in a way that considers our responsibility to sustainable tourism by striving to minimise and reduce waste, reduce energy consumption, reduce chemical use and reduce adverse effects on our environment. We feel it is important to acknowledge what we do, in the hope that our guests will contribute to these efforts as well.
